NYC is feeling the nostalgia this summer, with the Stranger Things Experience taking us back to the ’80s and Central Park’s sparkling new roller rink keeping the disco era going strong! Well now the ’70s are Stayin’ Alive as well with the newest restaurant edition to Midtown West: Peachy Keen.
Coming from the NYC restaurant group Hell’s Kitchen Hospitality (HKH), Peachy Keen is NYC’s newest all-day eatery, offering two bars, a main dining room and a parlor space where guests can enjoy brunch, lunch, dinner, cocktails and an detailed dessert menu. It’s also extremely spacious with 142 seats, so it’s perfect for larger groups or when you don’t have time to make a reservation.
The space is completely eye-catching, filled with bright, complementing colors like yellow, peach and turquoise, plus tons of retro design nods. Curated by by Wid Chapman of Wid Chapman Architects –who also designed Dhamaka – expect everything from vibrant tables and banquettes wrapped in oak tambour, to a 14-seat raspberry-tinted bar and fun details like white ceramic tiles paired with pink grout, playful neon signage, vinyl tabletops and velvet upholstery.
The menu serves as a time machine as well, with Chef Nicholas McCann – formerly of Salinas and The Milling Room — serving up revamped comfort-food items like Truffle Mac & Cheese, Old Fashioned Chicken & Dumplings, Crab & Corn Beignets and Chocolate Banana Bread French Toast and Chicken and Waffles for brunch.
For cocktails, there’s an extensive menu of neon-colored creations in the most fun glassware! Like the “DISCO SALLY,” PK’s signature rum punch served in a 20 oz light up disco ball, or the “TRIPPIE HIPPIE” with Malfy Grapefruit Gin, Empress Gin, Lavender, Lime, Honey in a mushroom glass (see farther down).
And the main attraction: dessert. Of course there are Root Beer and Creamsicle Floats and over-the-top sundaes, but there are also delicious build-you-own soft serve flavors (we had ours infused with Cinnamon Toast Crunch), boozy milkshakes, and a selection of pastry items from funnel cake to a Bananas Split Foster.
We had a chance to check it out person, and it’s definitely going to be a go-to when we have to go to Midtown! Here are some of our favorite items:
Chicken & Dumplings
From left to right: RHINESTONE COWGIRL, LIMONCELLO LEMON DROP (frozen); KEENY PEACH; TRIPPIE HIPPIE
