Is there anything New Yorkers love more than their dogs? The latest trend around town has been the added option of pup friendly treats when owners go out for a bite/drink.
Bushwick ice cream parlor, Ollie’s Ice Cream + Stuff, is the newest addition to the trend. Inside you’ll find delicious artisanal ice cream flavors, with a surprise in store for the doggos as well! After the official opening on June 1st, it seems the customers (mainly dog owners) were quite pleased, as around a thousand people turned up between 12pm to 8pm. The owner, Eric Kyriakopoulos, stated that business started off with a boom, not only were 300 pup cups sold, but closing time was moved up two hours since most flavors sold out.
Eric, being a long-time resident of Bushwick, had always noticed the ratio of bars to other sweet shops was relatively low, walking around the neighborhood there always seems to be a place to grab a drink but never a really good ice cream shop. This is what eventually inspired him to open up Ollie’s. So far the record shows Midnight Mint (surprise surprise) and Bread ’n’ Roses as the two most popular flavors, in addition to other hits being the gluten-free cones and Lucky Charms marshmallow topping.
Dog or not, you have to try this new Bushwick hotspot out for yourself!
