NYC’s first-ever ‘zero-waste’ cafe Scen just opened its doors in January 2022. Located at 1165 Broadway, this new cafe is entirely plant-based and zero-waste.
Partners Maximilian Koenig and Matthew Kenney are bringing healthful dining options with quick and easy access to New Yorkers who are so often on the go.
The cafe offers everything from bagels and bowls, to sushi rolls and adaptogenic super drinks.
“My generation is tired of compromising the planet and our own health for convenience on a daily basis. However, the current options are limited and require a lot of critical research. We set out to base every detail of our concept on the health of humans and the planet. It is our mission to develop a circular food supply chain for the cities of the future now and make nutritional science available for everyone,” shared Koenig.
Scen’s packaging is 100% compostable and their ingredients are always sustainably-sourced.
From farm to table offerings, order their Energy Bowl made with brown rice, sweet&sour cauliflower, broccolini, cabbage, beetroot hummus, sumac, sprouts, rainbow radish and pecan dukkha or their colorful sushi with Kimchi Swiss Chard, Beet Mosaic and Mango Sumac.
In addition to the physical space, Scen also has a digital shop where people can purchase other healthy snacks, of course delivered in zero-waste packaging.
This exciting concept is definitely a must-visit spot and one step in the right direction when looking out for our planet. Find out more at their website here.
