This month, Rolling Stone magazine asked actors, writers, producers, critics, and showrunners to pick their favorite TV shows of all time. The result is a list of the best 100 TV Shows of all time.
The biggest take-away from this list is that we are truly living in a golden age of television. The vast majority of the shows listed were made in the last 10 years.
But we’re not here to talk about how great modern TV is… we’re here to talk about how awesome NYC based TV is! the top 10 looks like this:
10. The Daily Show – Filmed In NYC
09. All in the Family – Set In Queens
08. Saturday Night Live – Filmed In NYC
07. The Twilight Zone
06. The Simpsons
05. Seinfeld – Set in NYC (Mainly in an apartment building in Manhattan’s Upper West Side)
04. Mad Men – Set in NYC
03. Breaking Bad
02. The Wire
01. The Sopranos – New Jersey For The Win
So, we may have lost first place to our neighbors, but it’s clear that NYC is a compelling place for TV. Other notable series that also made the top 100 are Friends at No.26 and Sex and the City at No.62… Mr. Robot and How I Met Your Mother didn’t even make the list!
