Bowling For Soup sang all about our relentless obsession with the year 1985, and this sultry new underground speakeasy is taking notes and serving up all the 1980’s vibes.
Nestled underneath the Mean Fiddler, this vintage stop called The Woo Woo is taking us back a few decades to NYC’s grunge era.
Ring the bell at the door inscribed with “Come As You Are” before entering into a time machine of graffiti walls, neon lights, and vintage punk concert posters. This all comes before arriving at the adults-only sex shop filled with authentic ’80s porn magazines, posters, and sex toys that are sure to bring a blush to your cheeks.
The red curtain at the VCR bookcase portal leads you to the bar, where you’ll find 9 signature cocktails that throw a nod to throwback classics, such as the Prince-inspired Purple Rain, made with gin, lemongrass, celery, citrus, fresh mint, and pink peppercorn over purple rain ice, Frisky Business, their version of a piña colada served with rock candy and toasted marshmallow, and Dirty Dancing, made with vanilla vodka, passionfruit, lime, and Prosecco with flambéed meringue.
All cocktails are, of course, made with love.
Alongside their cocktails their menu also features seductive small bites such as Slide’her In Chicken Sliders, Turn Me On Honey Flatbread, Let Us Woo You Margherita Flatbread, and Daddy Fiddler’s Salad.
The Woo Woo is a cheeky spot that pays homage to the pre-Disneyfied era of Times Square.
Before consumerism made it what it is today, the area was known as “The Deuce.” It was a place that felt like anything could happen, and in a time of sexual promiscuity when peep shows and adult film stores lined the streets, anything did happen. This sultry spot honors that. They’re “taking back our freedoms and leaving the hushed undertones of sexual shaming in the past” and in doing so are unapologetically calling themselves “wild freaks.”
At The Woo Woo you are free to be who you want as long as you treat others with respect. They promise a night full of promiscuity and seduction, and a night of promiscuity and seduction is exactly what you’ll get.
The Woo Woo is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5p.m. to 2a.m. Be sure to browse around their website to find the password required to enter! If you can’t find it the host at The Mean Fiddler next door may be nice enough to share it with you.
