Last week we were singing “Lean on me, when you’re not strong“ and this week we’ll be belting out “Darling, darling stand by me…”
Earlier this month, The Peace of Heart Choir—which performs free concerts in hospitals and nursing homes all over NYC—launched “New York Sings Along.” The project hopes to organize a giant, city-wide sing-along every Thursday to “boost morale” and “honor those on the front lines battling the COVID-19 pandemic.”
This week’s choice is the Ben E. King classic “Stand By Me.”
Tonight, April 30, everyone will join in song right after the usual 7pm clap that now takes place to thank essential workers for their service
They will be continuing the tradition every week, and even have radio partners in WKCR-FM 89.9 and WBAI 99.5 FM New York who will both broadcast the music after a brief intro. You can also visit their webpages (here and here) for a live stream.
Practice below and be sure to tag us @secret_nyc if you’re able to catch a video!
