It’s back to business for NYC schools. Tuesday, January 27th, all buildings will be open and in-person learning will resume.
After this weekend’s blizzard brought roughly a foot of snow across the five boroughs and below-freezing temps, students participated in remote learning on Monday, January 26th — and encountered a few tech glitches along the way.
As of Monday evening, the city confirmed in-person learning is set to resume.
NYC Schools: Tuesday, January 27th
The news came around roughly 4pm. According to a post on X:
New York City Public Schools buildings will be OPEN on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
All programs and activities will take place as scheduled.
Although buildings will open, there are a few things to take into consideration: mainly the morning commute. Parents and guardians should expect delays and leave the house earlier than usual. Later in the day, dismissal will operate on schedule, but parents are encouraged to reach out to their child’s school directly regarding after school programs.
As far as remote learning goes, it’s possible that the kiddos might be home again in the near future. NYC is bracing for another weekend storm, which could potentially alter schedules next Monday, February 2nd. According to the AccuWeather forecast, ““How fast the storm strengthens will be a determining factor in the final track of the storm this weekend and whether or not it moves up the East Coast.”
All in all, it’s a bit too soon to tell if we’re going to have to alter classes next week, however, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on any further developments. Stay tuned!
