With indoor dining banned and a snow storm that took over the city, it was a tough week for NYC restaurants.
Still, some owners tried to make light of it — and threw shade at the Mayor and Governor’s rulings — by actually setting up a full dinner to eat in the snow last night!
Maiella in Long Island City, Trattoria L’Incontro in Astoria, and Beach Cafe on the Upper East Side were just a few that got tables and chairs out, food and even wine to do their best to dine, all with winds howling and snow pouring down.
“This is how we’re going to be doing outdoor dinner and outdoor lunch in New York City from today on, since we are celebrating our first snow storm,” one owner said. “Cheers!”
Another said simply, “Happy Holidays Mr. Mayor and Governor, thank you very much,” as wine from the bottle they were pouring actually starting blowing out into the snow from the wind. “What NYC restaurants have to do to survive this winter,” they wrote in the caption.
Also, it looks like even some New Yorkers dined out in the middle of the storm last night, at least according to Twitter?
I would just like to know why. pic.twitter.com/w75OTVGfSr

Hey, at least they’re supporting local businesses!
If you brave the weather or even order takeout, don’t forget to tip well.
