If you look outside Madison Square Gardens today you’ll notice something a little different, a stretch of West 33rd Street has been renamed Muhammad Ali Way.
The plan was announced on Tuesday by Mayor Bill de Blasio as a way to honor the boxing legend.
The 74 year old, three time heavyweight champion fought eight times at the garden, most famously against Joe Frazier in 1971 in the bout that became known as the “Fight of the Century”
The new name and signs are only temporary, thought to be on display for only a few days. Personally, we wouldn’t mind the change to be permanent.
