Tomorrow, March 23, NYC will raise the American and Ukrainian flags together at Bowling Green Park in Lower Manhattan. Mayor Eric Adams and New York’s Ukrainian consulate general, Oleksii Holubov, will be joined by other important guest speakers for the raising, set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
Ukrainian restaurant and East Village icon Veselka shared the news to Instagram, asking the public to join them.
The raising of the flags in unison will symbolize “New Yorkers and Ukrainians united as one” and represent America’s solidarity with Ukraine. Those who attend will hear from Holubov and other special guest speakers on Ukraine’s fight for independence and freedom from foreign invaders.
The raising will have additional entertainment beyond guest speakers with singers to commemorate the event.
Veselka shared that the raising will go on rain or shine and is open for the public to join.
The two flags will wave over NYC for the first time in unison to show the two countries united.
