A little summer cinema under the stars, anyone?

Okay, not a little — a lot. NYC Parks has officially unveiled its beloved “Movies Under the Stars” lineup for 2026, and this year’s season is bigger than ever. From spring through fall, more than 300 free outdoor movie screenings will transform parks across all five boroughs into open-air cinemas, bringing everything from nostalgic classics to new family favorites right into local neighborhoods.

Whether you’re spreading out a blanket with friends, packing takeout for a sunset picnic, or reliving your favorite comfort movie under the skyline, the annual series has become one of New York City’s sweetest warm-weather traditions. This year’s lineup includes crowd-pleasers like Wicked, Encanto, Lilo & Stitch, and Dirty Dancing, alongside indie films, documentaries, student showcases, and even a FIFA World Cup-themed soccer series.

And in a summer where just about everything feels expensive, this remains one of the city’s best free nights out: just show up, find a patch of grass, and let the park become your movie theater for the evening.
