If you’ve been job hunting—or know someone who has—you might want to mark your calendar.
New York City is hosting a hiring event next week where qualified applicants could receive a job offer before they even leave.
The positions come with full–time benefits, salaries that grow to nearly $70,000, and the chance to start a meaningful career working with young New Yorkers.
The event, hosted by the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), is looking to fill Youth Development Specialist positions, with interviews taking place on Wednesday, August 12.
Qualified applicants could receive a job offer the same day
Unlike a traditional job fair, this hiring event gives selected candidates the opportunity to interview in person and potentially receive an offer on the spot.
However, the event is by invitation only. Interested applicants must first complete an online interest form, and only selected candidates will receive an invitation with the interview location and additional details.
Youth Development Specialists begin with a starting salary of $55,075, with annual increases that can bring pay to $69,762 after five years.
In addition to salary growth, employees receive:
- Comprehensive health insurance
- Longevity bonuses
- Opportunities for higher education and career advancement
- Stable, full-time city employment
What does a Youth Development Specialist do?

Youth Development Specialists serve as mentors, role models, and guides for young people housed in New York City’s secure juvenile detention facilities.
The role focuses on supporting youth through positive relationship-building, supervision, and daily programming while helping create a safe and structured environment.
Who can apply?
Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least one year of full-time experience working with at-risk youth or adults, or
- Hold a bachelor’s degree.
How to register for the hiring event
Anyone interested in attending must complete the form in advance. Because attendance is limited, submitting the form does not guarantee an invitation.
Selected applicants will be contacted directly with the interview location and additional instructions ahead of the August 12 hiring event.
If you’re looking for a stable career with competitive benefits—and the possibility of walking away with a job offer the very same day—this could be one of the quickest hiring opportunities currently available in NYC.
