If you’re into optical illusions, this place will rock your world.
As of Monday, August 24, the super popular Museum of Illusions has officially opened back up their permanent location between Chelsea and the Meatpacking District after COVID-19 closures. The interactive museum offers eye-catching (and quite unbelievable!) visual and educational experiences, all playing up the wonder of optical illusions that change with perspective or trick your eyes.
Of course, this museum is extremely Instagram friendly so be sure to bring your camera with you!
The entire collection is made of more than 70 exhibits which are all based on science, math, and psychology. Visitors are prompted to learn about vision, perception, and the human brain through participating in the exhibits.
Some of the exhibits include holograms, an anti-gravity room and even a room where everything gets turned absolutely upside down. The place is basically just one big optically illusion!
Of course, they have new safety measures in place as per NY State mandates, including: limited capacity of 25%, required face coverings, temperature checks, at least 12 hand sanitizer stations, and additional disinfecting of the museum around the clock.
