Get ready for months packed with outdoor experiences, public art, and completely free events. The neighborhood is turning its iconic cobblestone streets into one of the city’s premier destinations for culture and community.
Whether you want to dance in the streets, celebrate global sports, or catch an outdoor movie, there is something for everyone.
Here is everything you need to know about the neighborhood’s summer takeover.
Car-free streets and live performances
The streets are getting a major pedestrian-friendly upgrade. Over select weekends, the Open Streets Fête will completely take over Little West 12th Street and West 13th Street.
This initiative, called Summer Goals, brings car-free corridors to the neighborhood. You can expect expanded outdoor dining, interactive workshops, and live performances.

Catch incredible shows from the Ajna Dance Company and the Bryant Park Jugglers, or get creative with Greenwich House Pottery.
There will also be a special Juneteenth celebration presented by the Malaika Collective on June 20.
- When to go: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 30, June 7, June 13, June 20, July 11, and July 12. (The final weekend perfectly aligns with the annual West Side Fest!)
A massive ‘Summer of Soccer’ celebration
Global soccer is taking center stage this summer, and the Meatpacking District is going all out to celebrate the tournament.
The Whitney Museum of American Art is stepping up as a vibrant cultural hub. They are offering free daily admission for visitors 25 and under, plus special DJ sets and artmaking.
If you show up in your official team gear, you will even score a 20% admission discount.
Looking for an epic watch party? ARTECHOUSE is screening the semi-final and final matches on July 14, 15, and 19 right inside their stunning Immersion Gallery to put you at the center of the action.
Local food spots are also joining the fun, offering specials like country-specific hot dogs at Dickson’s Farmstand Meats and the Red Card ‘Rita at Lobster Place.

You can also grab a Summer of Soccer Passport at the Meatpacking Ambassador Tent. Collect stamps at local shops like Aesop and Little Island to score exclusive neighborhood merchandise.
Evening dance parties and outdoor movies
If you are looking for a post-work hangout, Vibes on Little West 12th Street is officially returning.
On select Thursday evenings (July 16 and 30, August 13 and 27), the street transforms into an open-air social destination with rotating DJs and plenty of space for dancing. The series wraps up on September 10 with a beautiful fashion show hosted by the Caribbean Fashion Collective.
Film buffs can also rejoice. Movies on the Cobbles returns to Gansevoort Plaza with free outdoor screenings. The series kicks off on Monday, June 1 with the highly anticipated New York premiere of “The Brittney Griner Story.”
