The calendar may read September, but Mother Nature sure has something to say about the weather!
After hovering temperatures in the 70s all week long, New York City will nearly reach 90°F this Saturday, September 6th—hotter than Alexandria, Egypt.
According to Time and Date’s weather forecast, New York City’s high for Saturday is currently sitting at 86°F, with a low of 69°F. As you can see in the chart below, temperatures are expected to drop back down in the 70s for most of next week, with Sunday’s high seeing a more than 10°F drop.
Unfortunately, Saturday’s high temperatures don’t promise nice weather. Forecasts show 59% humidity and isolated thunderstorms late at night. However, Monday’s sunny skies with a high of 77°F and 32% humidity will feel much more pleasant.
As for Alexandria, Egypt, forecasts show Saturday temperatures with a high of 84°F, two degrees below New York City’s high. Although residents of Alexandria may experience a cooler Saturday than New York City, they’ll surely experience more optimal conditions with a 0% chance of precipitation and no clouds in sight.
Alexandria tends to have more comfortable temperatures than its inland counterparts, like Cairo or Luxor, due to its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. Even so, winter temperatures average around 55°F in January—unlike New York City’s 32°F.
For the rest of New York City’s fall, residents can expect a cooler-than-average season.
As for the 2025-2026 winter season, break out the winter gloves because long-range forecasts predict ‘chill, snow, repeat.’
