Following the perfect Fourth of July weather, you may have been disappointed checking this week’s forecast calling for nothing but clouds. According to Time and Dates hour-by-hour forecast, NYC will see gloomy skies for more than 144 hours straight from Monday, July 7th through Sunday, July 13th.
For the most part, temperatures will hover in the 80s over the next few days. Tuesday, July 8th will be the hottest day of the week, with a high temperature of 92°F and a Heat Advisory in place. The advisory will be effective from 10am through 8pm.
According to the National Weather Service, “a Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.” The National Weather Service’s advisory notice explains that Tuesday’s heat index is valued up to 100.

If we learned anything from this summer’s heat wave, you’ll want to find a cooling center, go for a dip in one of NYC’s public pools, or cool off with some ice cream.
Thunderstorms are possible from Monday, July 7th, through Wednesday, July 9th, with the greatest likelihood of precipitation expected on Wednesday. Then, from Thursday, July 10th through Saturday, July 12th, Time and Date shows passing showers, before a dry Sunday, July 13th rounds out the week.
There is not one hour over the next six days (Tuesday through Sunday) that doesn’t show clouds in the Time and Date forecast. However, this does not mean NYC will have a sunless streak, as various hours of the week will be mostly cloudy with some sun.
At the moment, the following week isn’t looking any better, with clouds persisting through July 18th, 2025.
This reminds us when NYC was expected to see more than 26 hours of rain over a 48-hour period earlier this year.
