Beginning Monday, January 24th, NYC Ferry will service rides to Governors Island via the South Brooklyn route.
This service will introduce additional stops that will give more NYC neighborhoods direct access to Governor’s Island like never before!
Direct connections will run between Governors Island’s Yankee Pier from the Brooklyn waterfront and the Lower East Side with an extra stop between Sunset Park/Brooklyn Army Terminal and Red Hook/Atlantic Basin.
The South Brooklyn line will run from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. on both weekdays and non-summer weekends alongside previous service from the Battery Maritime Building in Manhattan.

However, according to the NYC Ferry website, the South Brooklyn route will eventually terminate service once the Coney Island route launches in late 2022.
Once the Coney Island route is launched, riders can expect faster access to Pier 11 in Lower Manhattan by addition of a Bay Ridge stop. And by spring 2022, weekend Brooklyn ferry service to Brooklyn Bridge Park-Pier 6 and Red Hook will return.
