First launched in 1990, the NYC Century quickly became a one-of-a-kind ride: the nation’s only 100-mile all-urban bike tour, spanning four boroughs, crossing iconic bridges, and winding through neighborhoods that showcase the city’s cycling spirit.
Now, after its final ride in 2019, the Century returns in honor of Roger Herz, one of Transportation Alternatives’ original co-founders, with this year’s special Roger Herz Memorial NYC Century Bike Tour.

Riders of all skill levels are welcome! Choose from a short 15-mile family route, intermediate rides, or the full 100-mile Century. Kids 14 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

🛠️ What should I bring?
Two filled water bottles, sunscreen, light snacks, helmet, spare tube, government ID, registration ticket, cash/credit, MetroCard/OMNY device, portable charger, and rain gear if needed.
🚲 Can I rent or ship a bike?
Yes! Bike rentals are available through Bicycle Habitat, and Bike Flights can deliver your bike to the city for a separate fee.
E-bikes and cargo bikes are allowed. Citi Bikes are not recommended for long-distance routes.
🛑 Are there rest stops or marshals?
Yes! Rest stops provide snacks, hydration, and support from marshals stationed along the route. There are no street closures, so be mindful of traffic.
👨👩👧 Can I ride with friends or family?
Absolutely! The tour is perfect for groups, and the family route is especially kid-friendly.
☔ What if it rains?
The event is rain or shine. Optional rain insurance reimburses up to $100 if a certain amount of rain falls at Central Park on event day.
