The Bowery Hotel is usually where downtown Manhattan goes when it wants to feel like it has stepped into a particularly glamorous version of old New York.
This October, though, its moody rooms and patio are getting a far livelier assignment.
For two nights only, the New York Arte Agave Tequila & Mezcal Festival will take over the Bowery Hotel with unlimited tastings of more than 100 tequilas and mezcals, craft cocktails, mariachi, folklórico dance performances, tacos, art, and an artisan marketplace.
In other words, it’s turning aside its “quiet cocktail at the lobby bar” mantra for a “let’s see how many new favourite agave bottles we can responsibly discover before 9:30 pm.”
The 21+ celebration lands on Thursday, October 1 and Friday, October 2, and is already shaping up to be one of the month’s most fun nights out.
Here are all the details and how to get involved!

A downtown hotel with very good taste
Right at the meeting point of NoHo and the East Village, the Bowery Hotel has been quietly perfecting downtown drama since opening in 2007.
From the street, its red-brick façade has the sort of old-New-York confidence that makes it look as though it has always been there. Inside, it leans into the mood: dark wood, glowing fireplaces, velvet, Moroccan tile, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a famously buzzy lobby scene.
The Michelin Guide describes it as a relatively recent neighborhood addition that nevertheless feels like a faithful homage to classic New York, and has even awarded the hotel One MICHELIN Key.
That atmosphere is precisely why Arte Agave feels like a particularly good fit here.
Instead of dropping rows of tasting tables into a generic convention space, the festival will spill across the hotel’s indoor and outdoor areas, including the patio, where guests can work their way through premium pours and cocktails beneath the downtown skyline.
More than 100 ways to say “just one more taste”
Let’s make this clear, this isn’t your standard tequila-soda-and-a-lime situation.
Arte Agave will bring together more than 100 varieties of tequila and mezcal, from bright, crisp blancos to deeper, barrel-aged añejos and smoky mezcals. Every general-admission ticket includes unlimited tastings from participating spirit and food vendors, plus an engraved Glencairn copita glass designed to heighten each agave spirit’s aroma and flavour.
Early-entry guests get an additional hour from 6 to 7 pm to explore rare, limited-release, aged, and high-proof pours before general admission begins. The special early-entry lineup is expected to include bottles such as Los Siete Misterios Pechuga, Don Fulano Imperial Extra Añejo, LALO 2026 High Proof, G4 Single Barrel Reposado, and expressions from Derrumbes.
There will also be cocktails for anyone who prefers their agave with a little more theatre! Look out for a spicy guava margarita from Laelia Tequila, Manzana Chicana from Señora Leona, a spicy jalapeño margarita and habanero paloma from Tanteo, and a refreshing Rancho Mexicano by El Mexicano.
Expect mariachi, folklórico, tacos, and a whole lot of color
The festival has been designed as a celebration of agave culture rather than a simple room full of sampling stations.
On both nights, Mariachi Sol Azteca will bring traditional mariachi sounds to the Bowery, while Mazarte Dance Company performs folklórico dance pieces. There will also be live pop-up entertainment, music from DJ Mickey Perez, and appearances by visiting artist Danny Valle.
The food lineup is equally ready to keep up with the pours.
Participating vendors include Marcela Cocina Mexicana, JaJaJa, and Tipsy Scoop, with tacos, al pastor, birria, carne asada, mole, tamales, taquitos, homemade salsas, guacamole, and more on offer. You can also expect artisan shopping from Dark Matter Coffee and Sleep Walk Chocolateria.

Arte Agave began in New York’s bar world
Arte Agave is not a newly invented excuse to drink tequila on a Thursday, although we would never object to one of those.
The festival began as a bartender- and beverage-director-led effort to give drinkers a better understanding of tequila, mezcal, and the people and regions behind them.
Founder Walter Easterbrook has said that questions from bar guests about reposado and mezcal helped inspire the original concept, which has now grown into a national series spanning eight U.S. cities in 2026.
New York’s two-night edition comes after sold-out local iterations, including a 2024 Bowery Hotel event where guests sampled agave spirits alongside Mexican food and entertainment.
The 2026 event, presented by The Daily Pour, is billing itself as an elevated celebration of the craftsmanship, stories, flavours, and traditions that sit behind every bottle.
