Most of you probably missed the “8 ’till late” felt bodega art exhibit, but don’t worry we’ve got in for you here in pictures. It’s everything you love about your local bodega but made out of felt.
The Bodegas are ubiquitous in New York as yellow cabs and fast moving sidewalk traffic. They form an essential, and convenient, stitch in the fabric of the city that is seemingly impervious to mega-malls and chain stores. …so it almost makes sense that someone would recreate one in the name of art …out of fabric.
The British artist behind the bodega, Lucy Sparrow, previously made her own felt sex shop and felt corner shop in London. Following their success, she turned her artistic eye towards the NY staple. The exhibit “8 ’till late” sadly ended last week. It was a one of a kind bodega/art exhibit where everything was made out of felt. EVERYTHING; the candy, meat and detergent, even the pregnancy tests.
Everything in the shop was for sale. Art lovers could pick up a felt box of candy costs $35. For those of you who couldn’t make it out to 8 ’till late here is what you could find:
