We all like getting a good scare during spooky season–okay, well maybe not all of us–and with deciding between all the must-attend Halloween events, picking out the best Halloween costume, and making sure you get your fix of spooky decoration viewing, what can spook us even more is feeling like the season didn’t live up to its full frightening potential.
But this just in–if you’re looking to end the Halloween season knowing you got your fair share of frights, NYC is actually the place to be.
WalletHub recently released its 2023’s Best Places for Halloween report to help us decide the best U.S. city to celebrate Halloween, and NYC came out on top!
The company looked at the 100 largest U.S. cities across 20 key metrics, taking into consideration everything from candy and chocolate stores per capita to Halloween party supplies stores, and NYC received a total score of 74.38–that’s 10.86 points more than Las Vegas, which came in the #2 spot.
NYC also scored in the #1 spot for trick-or-treater friendless, the #3 spot for Halloween fun, and the #4 spot for Halloween weather.
To be honest, we can’t exactly say we’re surprised that NYC was named the best U.S. city to celebrate Halloween. I mean, we are home to the annual Village Halloween Parade, which is New York’s most iconic Halloween event.
Plus, pair that with a bunch of dressed up pups at the annual Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade and that alone is enough to feel like spooky season was a success.
There are even several bars which go all out each season with startlingly spooky decor, and haunted houses that are sure to give you nightmares.
Honestly, need we go on?
NYC has even made its way onto the big screen more than once when it comes to serving as the back drop to many a scary movie.
For those who have seen all the spookiness NYC has to offer, we suggest also checking out these Halloween towns near NYC for thrills and chills this spooky season.
