With the winter approaching you know what that means: it’s cuffing season–and if you don’t agree with this don’t shoot the messenger, rather, take it up with Urban Dictionary who first coined the term in 2011. And if you find yourself in New York for cuffing season you’re in the right place as a new study has revealed New York has the most romantic restaurants than any other state–pretty convenient for all those cuffing season dates!
Tripadvisor found each state’s 10 most populous cities that they’d consider “romantic,” and video chat roulette site Instacams.com then analyzed the percentage of restaurants in these cities to reveal which states have the most romantic ones. And, according to the data, New York has taken the top spot as being home to more romantic restaurants than any other state.
Out of all of the restaurants in New York’s 10 most populated cities, 6.19% are categorized as “romantic”–that’s 1,035 restaurants out of a total of 16,718. Moreover, New York’s most romantic city overall is New York City, where 7.70% of restaurants are considered “romantic.” We always knew we were true lovers at heart!
Aart Van Dijk, a spokesperson for Instacams.com, stated:
It’s not surprising to see New York at the top of the ranking, considering the state’s reputation for fine dining, especially in major cities like New York City…This research highlights that romance in dining can be found anywhere in the US, whether in the bustling streets of New York or the cozy, picturesque settings of smaller states.
Rounding out the top ten most romantic states based on their number of romantic restaurants is as follows:
1. New York
2. Vermont
3. Rhode Island
4. Maine
5. Louisiana
6. South Carolina
7. Georgia
8. Massachusetts
9. Hawaii
10. Wisconsin
These are some of our favorite winter date ideas and romantic things to do in NYC, though if you’re not participating in cuffing season the city is also thankfully a great place to take yourself on a solo date!
