The photos throughout the exhibit and book capture his travels and his time in NYC in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Reedus still resides in NYC and considers the city home. His photos of New York in the exhibit show the city’s underbelly, grit, and quirkiness.
Secret NYC recently caught up with Reedus to discuss NYC and “In Transit.” He also shared his favorite location in the city to photograph in Manhattan.
“It used to be the meat-packing district, but now it’s different than it used to be. I like Chinatown a lot, and I spent most of my time there. I never go above Houston Street ever,” Reedus said.

Reedus used to have a gallery/artist workspace called Collective Hardware on Kenmare and Bowery. He explains that his favorite place to photograph is still close to where his artistic endeavors in NYC began and are in the present day.
“I lived there [in Chinatown] for a long time. I knew all the crossing guards and all the shop owners. It was like one of those places that I spent so much in that I just know all the locals,” said Reedus, a local himself. He’s lived in NYC for over two decades and still resides here.
Stay tuned for our full interview with Reedus, and head over to The Gallery at the Soho Grand Hotel (310 W. Broadway) to check out the exhibit.
