Out with the old, in with the New!
After closing in 2024, one of New York City’s most boundary-pushing cultural landmarks is reopening later this month — and New Yorkers and visitors alike can get a first look, completely free.
On March 21st, 2026, the New Museum will officially unveil its stunning 60,000-square-foot expansion, doubling its footprint and reshaping the downtown skyline forever.
Designed to sit seamlessly alongside the iconic “stacked boxes” of the original SANAA building, the new space provides a massive canvas for the art of our time.
🌍 The Grand Debut: New Humans: Memories of the Future
To celebrate this milestone, the Museum is launching a sprawling, site-wide exhibition titled New Humans: Memories of the Future.
- Scale: The exhibition will span the entirety of the expanded Museum complex.
- The Vibe: Expect a deep dive into the intersection of technology, biology, and the human experience.
- Permanent Additions: Beyond the rotating galleries, several major new commissions will be installed in and around the building, serving as long-term fixtures of the new Bowery streetscape.
