Temperatures will reach 86 degrees on Wednesday and 89 on Thursday, reaching the low 90s on Friday and Saturday. Taking into account the humidity, expect for it to feel 5 to 10 degrees hotter.
Department of Emergency Management Commissioner Joseph Esposito had this to say:
“The warm temperatures expected this week will be especially dangerous to vulnerable New Yorkers, […] So check in on older neighbors and friends with underlying medical conditions.”
People without access to air conditioning are advised to seek out cooling centers that will be opened on Wednesday and Thursday thanks to the Department of Emergency Management. Find your closest center HERE.
