People loooove to say we New Yorkers are mean and rude–though we surprisingly were not voted the rudest city in America–but really we’re all just softies at heart, and honestly all we probably need to bring that softness to the surface is to connect with our inner child a bit more. And, as fate would have it, we have the chance to do just that this June as musical chairs is set to return to Bryant Park!
No, we’re not kidding.
Each year, a massive epic game of musical chairs takes over Bryant Park, and this year it’s returning for its 11th iteration on Monday, June 2nd at 6:30pm. But though we’re typically used to seeing the game played at children’s birthday parties, this one is for the adults! This year’s event will have hundreds of participants battling it out for the title of musical chair champ–needless to say, it’s NYC’s largest game of musical chairs.

Hosted by Ophira Eisenberg and DJ Flip Bundlez, the game will be split up into circles of 30 players, each competing for a seat in the winner’s circle. The finalists will then compete amongst each other to take home a super fabulous grand prize. And thankfully the game is not BYOC (bring your own chair), rather you’ll be using the park’s iconic green bistro chairs.
Check-in for musical chairs at Bryant Park will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, and each individual must be present and check in to participate in the game. Pro tip: don’t hesitate to secure your spot in line–the first 450 attendees to check in will receive a ticket to redeem a limited-edition Musical Chairs t-shirt at the end of the event!
Take a peek at what you’re in for if you’re planning to participate in the game below:
