Holiday travel is nothing if not challenging, and one New Yorker passing through JFK knows this all too well.
On top of the stress of dealing with a canceled flight, 77-year-old Ellen lost her 4-year-old tuxedo cat and best friend in one fell swoop in terminal 4, just ahead of Christmas.
According to a TikTok video from Sophie Vorburger, a friend who is helping Ellen raise awareness for her cat, Tazzie Lee’s whereabouts:
On December 20, Ellen was traveling on Delta when her flight was canceled. As she was walking back to her car between the terminal and the parking lot, the zipper on Tazzie’s soft carrier broke open in the middle of the traffic lanes, and Tazzie escaped. We have been searching for her ever since.
We’re inching closer to one month since Tazzie Lee has gone missing, but in true New York fashion, people are banning together to help bring her home safely.
Help find Tazzie Lee
From a viral news story via 1010 Wins, to the help of professional animal rescuer John DeBacker, JFK staff, and the power of social media, people have been spreading the word of Tazzie’s disappearance and encouraging travelers to be on the lookout.
For those who believe they could potentially cross paths with the adorable feline, be on the lookout for the following features: green eyes, a tipped ear, and a white chest. However, people are encouraged not to approach Tazzie and instead call 347-256-4380. There is a $5,000 award for Tazzie’s return.
As of January 13th, the quest is still underway. Ellen and her loved ones are “so grateful for all the love and support pouring in” and will continue their search. Sending good thoughts for Tazzie’s safe return home.
