New Yorkers love their city through and through, but if you’ve been a tad bit jealous of the suburbs with their private backyards over the past couple years, we wouldn’t blame you.
Luckily, you can once again get your own personal backyard experience in the city thanks to the returning rooftop pop-up called “The Greens”! They officially reopen for the season on Sunday, May 1.
Located at Pier 17 in the Seaport, right alongside the water, The Greens will reinvent itself this season with three distinct spaces to compliment Pier 17’s Summer Concert Series: The Lawns, The Restaurant, and The Patrón Patio.
The Lawns
The Lawns will once again feature the 32 10×10 square-foot mini backyards that can serve up to eight people. Each lawn is complete with multiple lounge chairs, a sun umbrella, a love seat, plus stunning views of the water.
There will be plenty of delicious summery dining options, from single-serve and large format cocktails to an all-day food menu.
Here are a few examples:
- Happy Accident with Sipsmith gin, Campari, Sweet Vermouth, Prosecco, and seltzer
- Mojito with Bacardi rum, lime, simply syrup simple, soda water top, and lime wheels
- New York Sour with Jim Beam whiskey, lemon, and red wine
- Gem Lettuce Salad with avocado, radish, cherry tomatoes, mustard vinaigrette
- Shrimp Roll with cucumber, celery, Sriracha dressing, fries
Pier 17 will also be offering a Summer Pass this year, perfect for returning visitors that want to pay for their mini lawn in advance. Learn more about these incredible discount packages here.
The Restaurant
The Restaurant will be the rooftop’s main eatery and lounge, featuring a more traditional dining experience and weekend brunch. All of that can be enjoyed across two enormous patios offering the best views of Lower Manhattan.
Menu highlights include:
- Heirloom Tomato & Mozzarella Salad with Calabrian chili-lemon vinaigrette
- Cheddar Cheeseburger with tangy BBQ sauce and grilled onions
- Egg & Cheese Sando with potato bun and fries
- Cool Girl with Grey Goose vodka, strawberry, and lemon
- Red Pepper Emoji with Patrón Reposado tequila, grapefruit, lime, red bell pepper, and red pepper flake
The Patrón Patio
As for the Patrón Patio, guests will be able to sip refreshing and exclusive Patrón Tequila drinks, while munching on Mexican-inspired snacks like their Spring Pea Guacamole and Salsa Roja with tortilla chips. Once you grab your drink from the walk-up bar, make sure to take in the Brooklyn skyline from their luxurious lounge-style seating.
Visitors can expect even more entertainment with summer programming including DJ sets and live music, along with an exciting Weekend Summer Kick-Off Party with event planner Project 91.
The lawns are open Mon–Wed 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. & Thurs–Sat 12 p.m. –to 12 a.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. You can make reservations on their website here, for either the Mini Lawns, the Restaurant & Bar, or the Patron Patio.
