This year, the Pakistani artist Huma Bhabha was chosen to create an art installation for the MET’s Cantor Roof Garden.
The rooftop garden overlooks Midtown and Central Park. Offering delicious cocktails and stunning views of the city, the annual installations add to the beauty of the space making it a destination spot when visiting the MET.
The Roof Garden Commission: Huma Bhabha, We Come in Peace will be a site-specific installation on view from April 17 until October 28, 2018. Although the details of the work have not been released, Huma Bhabha’s “work addresses themes of colonialism, war, displacement, and memories of place. Using found materials and the detritus of everyday life, she creates haunting human figures that hover between abstraction and figuration, monumentality and entropy.”
