Wedding bells will once again ring out and romance will be in the air at Lincoln Center this weekend as on Saturday, June 22nd, hundreds of NYC couples are expected to come together to celebrate love at Lincoln Center’s mass wedding, either by getting married for the first time or renewing their vows.
The wedding, which will be held in Lincoln Center’s recently renovated David Geffen Hall, is inspired by the center’s first ever (Re)Wedding in 2022, which was aimed at allowing those whose weddings were canceled or diminished due to the pandemic to still have their big day to enjoy.
And each year the celebration keeps getting bigger and bigger.
Couples won’t have the time to think about their potential cold feet as there are tons of pre-ceremony activities to indulge in–from taking selfies in the photo booth to getting henna tattoos–before professing their love to each other during a multicultural ceremony led by various faith leaders.
This year’s featured artists include The Dance Cartel, Juilliard’s Alumni String Quartet, Street Beat Brass, Isaac Oliver, César Alvarez, Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis, Harolyn Blackwell, Joshua Henry, DJ Lina, and more!
And there’s tons to look forward to after the ceremony as well. Last year’s post-ceremony festivities included poetry, live musical performances from special guests, plenty of tasty bites to eat, and karaoke.
The night will come to a close with a bouquet toss and epic dance party on the city’s largest outdoor dance floor (complete with a mega disco ball!)
And though the wedding is not a legally binding marriage, the day still gives couples the opportunity to dress in their best wedding attire and gather together to celebrate love.
The mass wedding is part of Lincoln Center’s “Summer for the City,” which includes hundreds of free events, thousands of artists, and food from across the city for New Yorkers to browse and enjoy this season.
Pre-ceremony activities begin at 5 pm, and those interested can register for free online here.
