Ready to pursue greatness, New York?
If you’ve been chanting “Marty Supreme, Christmas Day!” nonstop ever since Timothée Chalamet’s chaotic viral Zoom marketing call took over the internet — or if you were one of the fortunate few who caught the surprise 30-minute preview with Chalamet at Regal Times Square — chances are you’re more than ready to see the finished film.
Fortunately for New Yorkers, you can switch that chant to “Marty Supreme, December 18th!” because your wait just got a little shorter.
A24 has officially announced special 70MM engagements in NYC and LA beginning December 18th, a full week before the film’s national Christmas Day release.
These premium-format screenings not only showcase Josh Safdie’s first-ever 70MM release, but also highlight cinematographer Darius Khondji’s 35mm-to-70mm transformation: vintage anamorphic lenses, Arriflex cameras, grain, texture, all blown up into a panoramic visual experience designed for the big-screen.
And of course, the hype isn’t just about the format.
Chalamet stars as Marty Mauser, a shoe-salesman-turned-ping-pong-prodigy clawing his way to greatness, alongside a stacked ensemble featuring Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Tyler Okonma, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, Fran Drescher, Luke Manley, and Koto Kawaguchi.
Co-written by Safdie and longtime collaborator Ronald Bronstein, the film has already generated festival buzz following its New York Film Festival premiere, where it received glowing reviews.
To sweeten the deal, anyone attending these 70MM engagements will walk away with exclusive limited-edition merch: an original Marty Supreme poster and a set of Official Marty Supreme Championship Table Tennis Balls created just for the film’s 70mm debut.
If you missed out on Chalamet’s exclusive merch pop-up last week, don’t worry. You can still rep the highly anticipated film, bragging rights for seeing it early included.
