Last month we covered the Zika outbreak here in the city, and as the outbreak gains more and more media attention, it is clear the virus is on all of our minds.
To fight back against the rumor-mill and misinformation The NYC Health Department has released this interactive map which outlines their ongoing battle against the virus.
As it states on the site:
As of August 18, 2016 we found no mosquitoes with Zika. We found 187 mosquito traps with West Nile virus, 28% lower than last 3 year average.
Apart from trapping and testing the map also outlines efforts to treat catch basins (where mosquito lay their eggs) as well as larviciding on foot, by truck and helicopter. For more info browse the interactive graphic HERE or in the frame below.
