Summer in New York City is officially calling. Manhattan Park has finally unveiled its signature seasonal pool deck design, transforming the sprawling waterfront space into a vibrant, immersive masterpiece.
This year, the luxury Roosevelt Island rental community tapped Brooklyn-based multimedia artist Amir Diop to bring the massive concrete canvas to life.
Reconnecting with your inner child
Diop, who has previously worked with the New York Public Library, the NYC Department of Education, and the National Arts Club, created a bold and joyful design rooted in summer nostalgia.
His work aims to capture the simple, carefree magic of being a kid spending a long day by the water.

“Many of us can recall a hot summer day at the pool when the only treat within reach was whatever you could grab from the vending machine,” Diop shared. “That simple moment of sweetness becomes a portal back to wonder.”
The mural is designed to look and feel like a bright taffy structure that is stretching and swirling across the deck. By using vivid colors and dynamic shapes, Diop hopes the piece pulls people together through shared imagination.
A true summer escape
Jodi Stasse, EVP of New Developments at Corcoran, noted that the annual reveal brings a fresh, playful energy poolside. But the art is only part of the draw at this 8.5-acre luxury community.
When the weather warms up, Manhattan Park shifts its focus entirely outdoors. Residents can lounge on the expansive sun deck, take part in outdoor yoga classes, or gather together for waterside movie nights.
Surrounded by open green space and walking paths, it offers a rare balance of calm right across the river. It is the absolute perfect urban escape, providing panoramic views while remaining just minutes from Manhattan.
