Maman first opened in SoHo back in 2014 and rapidly expanded to multiple locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. This quaint little cafe offers quality coffee, food and even a section dedicated to home decor.
Maman, which means mother in French, is mainly inspired by the two founding partners’ childhood memories from the South of France. Their menu is largely focused on recipes they picked up from their moms, and it changes every day so you’re always in for a surprise when you come. Whether you’re in the mood for some baked goods, breakfast, brunch, lunch or a quick drink, Maman has it all—and a warm ambience that will make you feel right at home.
But if you have a sweet tooth, you have to try their famous nutty chocolate chip cookie! The cookie is made with sea salt, macadamia nuts, walnuts, and almonds in addition to an undisclosed chocolate (because they can’t give away all their secrets!). The delectable treat was also featured on Oprah’s favorite things of 2017 list, so you know it’s the real deal.
One of their unique qualities is that they offer workshops periodically, which is a great way improve your cooking skills! They also have an online shop selling anything from a box of their chocolate chip cookies to a few bits and bobs for the house.
With various locations across Manhattan and Brooklyn, Maman is open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. over the weekend.
