Have you ever craved Magnolia Bakery’s famous banana pudding but the store was either closed or you were too lazy to get to one? Well, after 36 months (three years) of planning and testing, Magnolia Bakery is ensuring every New Yorker can get their hands on banana pudding whenever they so please with frozen-to-thaw banana pudding. And to celebrate its launch, a free Magnolia Bakery vending machine is popping up in Brooklyn to give New Yorkers a first taste!
So why did this brilliant creation take three years? You might have realized that the Magnolia Bakery’s fresh banana pudding doesn’t keep well in the refrigerator as its fresh bananas turn brown and change in texture over time. That’s why the team spent extensive efforts understanding a new formulation that stays true to the original flavor made with real bananas that don’t melt when thawed.
Upon launching, it will be available as 14oz cups in three flavors: Wafer Cookie Bits, Chocolatey Hazelnut Swirl and Red Velvet Cookie Bits. By December, first-class passengers on domestic United Airlines flights will even be served a 3oz version during their meal program.
New Yorkers can find the Magnolia Bakery Vending Machine dispensing free frozen-to-thaw banana pudding at Cafe Balearica from November 15th – 17th. Work up an appetite dancing to the music and satiate your cravings with free banana pudding. Plus, Cafe Balearica will even be serving up banana daiquiris to go with your bites of banana pudding.
The new frozen-to-thaw Banana Pudding will be available from November 18th onwards, after the limited-time vending machine, through DoorDash, GoPuff, AmazonFresh and more.
“This marks an exciting time as we launch our newest product – frozen-to-thaw Banana Pudding, crafted with our consumers’, customers’ and the category’s needs and desires in mind. We knew we had an opportunity to develop a product line that delivered on what is expected of our brand while also driving incremental growth and excitement for the frozen desserts category. In development for over 3 years, we listened carefully to our consumers, our customers and most importantly – ourselves – in developing a new product that not only felt novel, but complimentary to everything we do,” said Eddie Revis, Chief Commercial Officer of Magnolia Bakery.
