Get ready to be awed, an elaborate display of enormous lanterns is coming to Staten Island!
On Wednesday, November 28, the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden on Staten Island will be hosting a magical show of more than 40 installations of 30-foot LED lanterns! The NYC Winter Lantern Festival lasts six weeks and is hosted by the China National Tourist Office in conjunction with New York Events & Entertainment and Haitian Culture, and is co-sponsored by Empire Outlets and of course Snug Harbor (where the event takes place).
Starting next week, the festival will be open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Special performances like a martial arts show and a traditional lion dance will take place at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays; 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. You can also expect a fun zone for kids, face painting, a food court and other fun activities.
