They say art is immortal, but what if the masterpieces we’ve come to know, memorize every detail of, and love were reimagined through a different lens? What if the great maestros of the past had access to the limitless potential of modern technology–how may have that changed their work? These are the questions Mercer Labs is exploring in their limited-time exhibition, Maestros and the Machines, kicking off on April 24th, 2025.
Attendees of the new exhibit will be able to embark on a groundbreaking exploration of the very essence of art and its relationship to time through a multi-sensory journey. Described as “a living, breathing dialogue between past and future,” Maestros and the Machines will ask a provocative question: “What happens when the timeless mastery of iconic artists meets the disruptive power of modern technology?”
Along with that question, the exhibit will reimagine masterpieces from notable artists–from Mozart and Da Vinci to Hokusai and more–through cutting-edge digital tools, immersive soundscapes, and interactive installations to create a living, evolving experience for the viewer.
Throughout the space, works will breathe, shift, and transform, responding to the viewer and technology itself, leaving guests with one main takeaway: Art is not bound by time. It is immortal.
Maestros and the Machines is conceived and directed by artist Roy Nachum. When describing the exhibit, he stated:
Art has always been alive, ever-evolving, and constantly shaped by new tools and perspectives. In Maestros and the Machines, we ask: What would these masters have made if they were alive today, equipped with the technology we now have? This exhibition is a conversation between the past and the future, where technology amplifies creativity and reveals new dimensions of what art can be.
Beyond being the brains behind the exhibit, Nachum, along with business partner Michael Cayre, is also the mastermind behind Mercer Labs itself. The 15-room immersive museum has already established itself as a pioneering cultural institution where art and technology converge.
Maestros and the Machines will only be open through October, so be sure to catch it before it disappears!
