If a Harry Potter eatery or a Golden Girls café doesn’t “peak” your interest, then maybe this new “Mad Men meets Twin Peaks” bar coming to Chelsea in the Spring might be just what you’re looking for.
What is happening to the bars in NYC? First they turn our dive-bars into yoga studios, then the bars we have left are being themed like Disneyland attractions. One such “themed” bar coming to NYC does seem to be keeping it classy.
With all the warmth of an upstate cabin, complete with fireplace and patterned wallpaper, “The Lately” boasts 3,400 sq ft of retro aesthetic and cocktails. In a statement to Gothamist, LDV Hospitality and Den Hospitality describe the new bar as:
“loosely modeled after an upstate cabin of yore, with a fireplace, playful wallpaper and modern flourishes—think Mad Men meets Twin Peaks.”
Beverage director, Grant Wheeler, is in charge of the expansive cocktail program. Expect everything from classic martinis and Manhattans, to originals original creations.
“The Lately” won’t open until mid-March, 357 West 16th Street in the Meatpacking District.
