Macy’s recently announced that their Fourth of July fireworks display will be launching from Brooklyn Bridge this year, which will be the first time since 2014.
The 43rd Annual Macy’s 4thof July Fireworks is expected to light up the night sky on Thursday, July 4, at 9:20 p.m. with fireworks going off from the bridge as well as four barges along lower East River, near the Seaport District’s Pier 17. This will mark the first time in nearly five years that Macy’s Independence Day pyrotechnics are displayed from the iconic landmark.
Executive producer of Macy’s 4thof July Fireworks, Susan Tercery, says, “We are excited to once again work with our partners in the City of New York to make the iconic Brooklyn Bridge the star of our show. With a barrage of stunning shells and effects launching from its grand span and towers, along with tens of thousands more effects coloring the night from barges on the lower East River, this year’s display promises to be a spectacle to remember.”
According to the release, there will be more than a dozen points along the bridge that the fireworks will launch from, and the show is expected to run for 25 minutes. Last year the spectacle took place near Midtown Manhattan.
