If you are desperately craving a peaceful, sensory escape—or just want to live in your own real-life “Lavender Haze”—you don’t need to book an expensive flight to Provence.
Just a couple of hours from the city, a breathtaking “purple paradise” is officially in full bloom. Lavender By the Bay is a spectacular farm that offers the ultimate slow-paced summer vibe.
A slice of Provence on Long Island
Located out on the beautiful North Fork, this sanctuary is home to over 80,000 lavender plants spread across two stunning locations in East Marion and Calverton.

Walking through the fields is a completely immersive experience. The soothing aroma of fresh lavender washes over you the second you arrive. You can listen to the gentle hum of bees hard at work and spot the farm’s free-range chickens happily wandering through the flowers.
It is the absolute perfect place to unplug, snap some incredible photos, and simply soothe your mind, body, and soul. They even have purple Adirondack chairs scattered throughout the fields so you can take a seat and soak it all in.
Catching the peak bloom: Go right now!
Here is the catch: the bloom window is incredibly short. The farm has officially announced that their massive French lavender bloom is peaking right now and will look amazing for the next two weeks!
Nature ultimately dictates the exact schedule, but the farm generally sees three different blooms throughout the summer:
- Mid-June: The first English lavender bloom kicks off the season with delicate shades of pale blue, pink, and deep purple.
- Early to Mid-July (Happening Now!): This is the absolute showstopper. The French lavender transforms the farm into a vibrant sea of purple that looks exactly like the South of France.
- Late Summer/Early Fall: A second English bloom makes a subtle, sweet return.
Because Mother Nature is in charge, it is always a good idea to check their social media or website for live updates before making the trip.
What to know before you go
The farm is fully open for the season to shop for farm-fresh lavender, plants, gifts, and farm favorites. Here are their current hours:
- Calverton Location (Route 25): Open seven days a week from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Wednesdays open at 11:00 AM).
- East Marion Location: Currently open Friday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

How to get there (Or bring the farm to you!)
You don’t even need a car to get your floral fix. The East Marion location is surprisingly easy to reach via public transit!
- The LIRR Route: Hop on the Long Island Rail Road from Penn Station or Grand Central and take it to the Greenport station.
- The Final Stretch: From Greenport, the farm is just a quick 5-minute rideshare or taxi ride away. If you are feeling active, it is a breezy 20-minute bike ride!
