Don’t you miss the buzz of being in a crowd, listening to live music with a drink in your hand?
Well, we can’t quite bring you the crowds (or the booze, I’m afraid), but we can bring you the buzz. As part of our new ‘Lockdown Live’ series, curated in partnership with Martell, we’re spotlighting some of the country’s most exciting musicians. Next up is DJ Mad Skillz—talented rapper, songwriter, producer, DJ, and artist from Richmond, Virginia—playing to a live audience on Friday, May 8.
known as “Skillz,” he’s been playing music since he connected his mother’s turntables as a kid and was introduced to the world of deejaying. Since then he’s worked with producer Timbaland, toured with Missy Elliott, and wrote songs for Diddy and Will Smith, among many others. He’s an influential player in the world of hip hop, and just last year the Mayor of Richmond designated February 13 as “Mad Skillz Day” for that very reason.
Now you can listen to his mastery of words for yourself when he takes over our Facebook live feed at 8pm next Friday (May 8).
Each week on Lockdown Live, talented local creatives will take over our Instagram or Facebook live feeds, bringing you beautiful music or teaching you something new in the kitchen. On Tuesday, April 28, Chef Sean Froedtert from acclaimed New York restaurants Comparti New York, Cosmico Wine Bar, Buvette and Bobo took over Secret NYC’s Instagram to whip up the most posh sauteed mushrooms on toast we’ve ever seen—and we can’t wait to show you what else we have in store.
You can catch up on past Lockdown Live performances over on @martellofficial’s IGTV.
