With rooftop season upon us, we couldn’t be more excited for new openings, and we’re talking about one in particular: LilliStar
Coming from the creators of Broken Shaker, LilliStar is an indoor-outdoor cocktail lounge and rooftop opening atop the Moxy Williamsburg.
Upon stepping into the space, guests will take in sweeping views of the Williamsburg Bridge and the Manhattan Skyline from 11 stories up. Indo-Aussie style meets Brooklyn energy that is reflected not only in the space but the drink and food menu.
“We’ve always been intrigued by the Australian surfers and artists who went to Bali in the ‘90s and infused the local culture with their own unique design, food, and style,” says Gabe Orta, co-founder of Bar Lab Hospitality. “We wanted to create an atmosphere that brings you someplace else, and Williamsburg provided the perfect backdrop for Lillistar.”
Sip on specialty drinks like the Bumbu Marg with tequila, strawberry and kiwi oleo, birdseye chile, lime juice, strawberry salt or the Papaya Salad Daiquiri with rum, papaya salad cordial and traditional papaya salad ingredients like tomato juice, lime juice, birdseye chile and fish sauce from Bar Lab Hospitality Beverage Director Christine Wiseman who was just crowned the winner of Altos Bartenders’ Bartender Award with North America’s 50 Best Bars 2023.
For bites, sink your teeth into Chef Eli Buli’s assortment of shared plates and lite bites like Rendang Bao, Buckwheat Noodles and Ayam Goreng (Indonesian fried chicken wings).
The interior design of LilliStar is intended to evoke a “tropical sensuality” that pairs well with the vintage-inspired furnishings.
The floor-to-ceiling windows inside set the scene as giant lotus flowers hang overhead. Whereas the outdoor terrace is lit by twinkling fairy lights to set the mood for sitting on the umbrella-shaded banquettes that boast the best views.
To energize the venue, clothing brands, local DJs, and record labels will step foot in the space for exciting events to come.
