Looks like Lidl is making its way through the five boroughs!
The super affordable European supermarket announced back in May their plans to open in Chelsea, and a year ago their plans to open in Park Slope by 2024 (plus they already have locations in Queens, Staten Island, and additional Manhattan locations).
And now, according to Welcome2TheBronx, they’re planning on heading to the Bronx as well!
Though we haven’t seen an announcement from the grocery chain itself, Welcome2TheBronx reported they were made aware of the news while shopping at the Bronx Terminal Market. The grocery store is set to take over the former Michaels craft supplies store which permanently closed during the pandemic.
Lidl is a beloved German grocery and retailer chain (first opened back in 1973) known for high quality products that are “suspiciously low-priced.” Since opening they’ve grown to operate in 32 different countries, making their United States debut back in 2017 in Virginia.
They work closely with vendors–80% of their products are private label–to meticulously curate a selection of high-quality products with top-tier freshness and quality.
Bronx Terminal Market is located at 610 Exterior Street. There’s no word yet on when the supermarket plans to open.
