After welcoming audiences to its first-ever permanent home, the company has officially opened its highly anticipated production of Les Misérables.

A star-studded cast takes the stage
This fresh take on Boublil and Schönberg’s legendary musical features a powerhouse lineup of actors.
The cast is led by Josh Young as the iconic Jean Valjean and Denis Lambert as the relentless Inspector Javert.
They are joined on stage by Haley Dortch as Fantine and Ana Paola Garcia as Cosette.
Adding a beautiful community touch to the production, several actors are local to the Hudson Valley region, including Madelynn Sue Merced as Young Cosette and Riley Thompson as Gavroche.
A historic grand opening in a stunning setting
This soaring tale of revolution, love, and redemption serves as the grand finale for HVS’s inaugural 2026 season.
Located just 80 minutes north of Manhattan, this permanent new home is a game-changer for the performing arts.
Designed by the celebrated architecture firm Studio Gang, the Samuel H. Scripps Theater Center is the first purpose-built LEED Platinum theater in the United States.
Audiences get to experience the epic sounds of “I Dreamed a Dream” and “One Day More” in a gorgeous open-air setting that is protected from the elements but overlooks the breathtaking Hudson River landscape.
What to know before you go
Since we are already in late August, you will want to secure your seats soon.
The production officially opened on August 15 and is currently running through Sunday, September 27.
The show is directed by Jenn Thompson, with music supervision by Amanda Morton.
If you want to make a full theatrical weekend out of your trip, HVS is also currently running William Shakespeare’s As You Like It and King Lear in repertory through September 18.
Tickets for all performances are an absolute steal for families, priced at just $15 for audience members aged 18 and under when accompanied by an adult.
