If you’re wandering through Midtown this month, you might stumble upon a soccer fan’s absolute dream.
To celebrate the upcoming final stages of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the LEGO Group and FIFA have teamed up to bring something truly spectacular to New York City.
Together with two-time World Cup winner Cafu, they just unveiled an incredible recreation of the iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy™ right in the heart of Rockefeller Plaza.
The largest mobile LEGO build ever created
This isn’t your average living room LEGO set. The spectacular installation towers over the plaza at 8.47 metres high (approximately 27 feet).
Constructed by a team of 59 designers, engineers, and builders at the LEGO Group’s Model Production facility in Kladno, Czech Republic, it took eight months to develop and more than 7,040 hours to assemble.
Here are some mind-blowing stats about the giant trophy:
- It is built from 1,363,402 LEGO bricks.
- The entire build weighs in at approximately 4.2 tonnes of LEGO bricks, supported by a 3.5-tonne internal steel structure.
- It was constructed in 16 major sections so it could be transported and installed rapidly.
Step into the LEGO Fan Zone
The giant trophy is the centerpiece of the LEGO Group’s official FIFA World Cup Fan Village, which has completely transformed Rockefeller Plaza into a playground for fans of all ages.
While you are there taking photos of the giant build, you can also explore interactive building stations and create your own personalized LEGO minifigures. Visitors can even contribute to a collaborative, FIFA-inspired brick mural!
This massive activation also celebrates the launch of the latest LEGO Editions collection. For the first time ever, legendary football icons Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Vini Jr. have been reimagined as LEGO minifigures.
