Winter is a magical time of year in NYC and Hello Panda Festival—the largest lantern festival in North America—is officially open for the season!
The first-ever Hello Panda Festival is illuminating Citi Field through the end of January with over 120 spectacular lantern displays. The dazzling spectacle is designed “to stir the senses and inspire imaginations” with larger-than-life creations like a 60-foot-tall Christmas tree lantern (the tallest lantern in North America), life sized dinosaurs, a 98-foot-long panda tunnel, and of course huge panda lanterns. The lanterns, which were handcrafted by 60 world renowned artists, light up the park with over 10 million individual lights.
Along with the many lantern sculptures, NYC’s newest wonderland of lights also features a holiday market that’ll offer authentic global cuisine from the 60 international food vendors curated by the popular New York food festival, The World’s Fare, in addition to a bar serving beer, wine, and cocktails. The space will also include live cultural performances and interactive art exhibits.
Produced by China Performing Arts Agency (CPAA) North America, Hello Panda Festival celebrates the traditional Chinese art of lantern making in a bright and colorful way!
Lanterns are outside, but the rest of the experiences will be across six giant heated tent areas, making it the warmest outdoor event during the coldest season! The dazzling spectacle, which is currently open, will run until January 26.
