The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark, located in in Monticello, NY (only 90 minutes outside of NYC)! first opened to the public back in 2019 as the largest indoor water park in New York State.
And though it was forced to close for a while due to COVID-19, it luckily reopened in the summer of 2021. The two-acre indoor water park is now open year-round as part of a massive resort in the Catskills, which could be a perfect weekend winter getaway.
The water park is complete with 11 water rides and slides, a lazy river, plus over 100 water adventures and a massive dump bucket.
As their website describes it, the space is “covered entirely by the world’s largest texlon transparent roof, so it’s 84 degrees of summer perfection – all year long. Don’t forget the sunscreen (even in the middle of winter). It’s the ideal Catskills waterpark adventure.”
And with the polar vortex we just had, a controlled 84 degrees sounds pretty nice!
Rides include the Krakken, the Nor’easter, and even one for racing your friends called the Jiggerty-Jaggerty; you can also brush up on your boogie boarding and surfing skills on the Endless Summer Flowrider.
Or, just chill out in one of their private cabanas with a fully-stocked mini fridge. The hotel itself features 324 suites, and access to the 80,000-square-foot water park is included in your stay. They also offer eight distinct restaurants and bars, indoor entertainment center, and daily activities.
If you don’t want to stay at the hotel however, you can easily grab a day pass called the “Splash Pass.”
