Get a slice of a tropical islands right in Manhattan. This seasonal pop-up Kokos at Pearl Alley serves up flavors, spirits, food, and the ultimate summer vibes! Dubbed “Kinda Tropical, Kinda New York” this bar and eatery takes the tranquil feeling of a Caribbean escape and puts it right in Downtown Manhattan.
We’ve outlined some of our favorite parts of Kokos at Pearl Alley and why you should check it out as part of your summer plans!
1. The Ambiance
It’s warm, inviting and it has Cabana seating. There’s lush greenery everywhere and the wooden and woven decor makes it feel relaxing and whisks you away to the Caribbean. So lounge, laugh, and enjoy some libations this summer. It’s hot enough, relax and soak up some tranquility!
2. The Rum Cake
We can’t say enough about this majestic rum cake. Don’t be surprised if it’s sold out on any given day…it’s that good. With caramelized walnuts at the bottom, this boozy treat is addictive, not too sweet, and rivals the rum cake you get in the Caribbean! We’ll be thinking about this rum cake long after summer is over!
3. The Location
Located right at the Seaport, on Pier 17, part of the eatery opens up outside and you have a waterfront view. It’s also close to many trains near the Fulton St. and Wall St. stations. Ferries coming into Pier 11/ Wall St. are also near Kokos! It’s convenient to get to and you can even dine here before or after a show at the Rooftop at Pier 17 outdoor concert venue right above.
4. The Deals & Themed Nights
The service is top-notch at Kokos and there are a variety of special themed nights to kick off the weekend! Tropical Friday Happy Hour has live acoustic music sets and $12 cocktails from 5-7 p.m. and runs until August 30th! Concrete Jungle Saturday Vibes happens from 2-5 p.m. and it’s complete with a live steel band churning out tunes and discounted cocktails in coconuts! Forget the Sunday scaries, lean into the Tropical Day Party Sundays, and kick back in the afternoons between 3-5 p.m. until September 1st.
5. The Food & Beverages
Other than the rum cake, some delectable bites and some cool drinks are being served at Kokos! We tried the toasty Cubano sliders with roasted pork shoulder, ham, pickles, swiss cheese, and Dijonaise on a baguette. Other options include the Bermuda fish cakes, the Dominican Burger and the jerk chicken. Did we mention there’s a whole Ceviche Cart?!
You can get a fresh coconut and coconut water for $9 or a Cocktail in a Coconut for $19. Whether you like rum, tequila, or bourbon, there’s a coconut cocktail for you! Other drinks pay homage to its Caribbean influence such as the Sorel Mezcalita or a Tamarind and Habanero Mimosa.
Summer is in full swing, so enjoy these waterfront cocktails and food while Kokos at Pearl Alley is here!
