NYC is getting a major dose of legendary street art this spring, and some of the most unique canvases ever painted by Keith Haring are finally making their way back to Manhattan.
We already have the incredible sprawling showcase taking over the Brant Foundation right now, and the pop art momentum is only speeding up.
Keith Haring built his lasting legacy in the subway stations of New York, but some of his most iconic works actually had engines and steering wheels.
Starting tomorrow, April 10, two of his incredibly rare three-dimensional masterpieces are landing in the West Village for a public viewing you absolutely do not want to miss.
A full-circle moment for New York street art
The brand new exhibition is officially called Keith Haring: On the Street, and it marks the very first time that his hand-painted 1963 Buick Special and classic Land Rover Defender will be displayed together in Manhattan.
These stunning vehicles will be parked inside Free Parking, a fresh 3,000-square-foot gallery space created by CART Department.
Tucked away inside a gorgeous 19th-century carriage house at 16 Morton Street, the garage-style venue provides the perfect backdrop for art that was always meant to live outside the confines of a traditional white-wall museum.
This exclusive ten-day showcase celebrates the release of Keith Haring in 3D, a massive new monograph published by Monacelli dedicated entirely to the artist’s three-dimensional creations.
According to Hypebeast, this New York City residency gives fans a fleeting chance to get up close and personal with the exact cars that inspired the upcoming book before they head off to a massive museum survey in Arkansas this June.
What to expect at the gallery
The exhibition goes way beyond just looking at the cars.
Throughout the week, the Morton Street space will host a series of storytelling sessions featuring members of Haring’s inner circle, notable culture critics, and street art legends.
You can look forward to insightful panel discussions with figures like Marka27 and Brad Gooch, plus an epic dance party DJed by G-Bo The Pro to truly capture that electric 1980s downtown energy.
With its old-school architecture and huge open garage doors, the space actively blurs the line between the gallery and the sidewalk to honor Haring’s original street-level vision.
Seeing these cars in this specific neighborhood really hits home how his art was meant to move, breathe, and interact with the public.
How to visit the exhibition
You can find the Keith Haring: On the Street exhibit at the Free Parking gallery located at 16 Morton Street in the West Village.
The doors officially open to the public tomorrow, Friday, April 10, and the show runs for just ten days until April 19, 2026.
