Don’t deny it: your canine companion is going to look *so* cute at the Tompkins Square Park Dog Paradethis weekend, so why not commemorate the moment for Halloweens to come?
Brooklyn illustrator Jordan Sondler will be in the East Village right in time to capture your furry friend striking a pose in his or her spooky-sweet garb. Whether you and your pup are going the creepy or cute costume route, a drawing of him or her decked out is a must for your apartment’s gallery wall.

When you need a breather from the festivities, stop by Romeo’s (118 St Marks) from 2-7pm to have Jordan do some sketching. Portraits cost $55, and you can either bring your pup or a photo, should you not be traveling with a four-legged friend this weekend.
Her work is whimsical, colorful, and completely lovable, so why not stop by? The artist has a sign-up doc on the Linktree in her Instagram profile if there’s a particular time you had in mind.
As if we weren’t already hyped for the dog parade, this news is just what we needed. Plus, we can expect exciting features at the 35th annual event from its newly-appointed head, Fern Watt, the founder of New York Dog Parade.
This year, there will be adoptable rescue dogs from ASPCA, Social Tees, and Pup Starz who will serve as Grand Marshals of the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade — a push to raise awareness for adoption and make sure pups in NYC shelters soon find their way into NYC homes.
“Yes, the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade is about dressing your pup in a beautiful, sometimes even statement-making costume. But it’s also about celebrating our friendship with dogs — the companions who make our city and our lives happier every day,” Fern said in a statement.
We couldn’t agree more.
